Excluding Petrobrass deals, investments increased from $41.9 billion in Q3 2010 to $51 billion in Q4 2010.

Although the overall investments caused some disappointment, the alternative energy market is expected to rebound positively with increased deal making activity in the near future, with local governments providing property tax incentives, economic development grants, and land to attract companies to develop and operate alternative energy projects.

According to Pallav Jhala, Analyst at GlobalData, The Alternative energy industry witnessed a decline in Q4 2010 largely on the regulatory uncertainties in the US and expected digression of Feed in Tariffs in Europe.
