LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--More than 50 advocates for the use of condoms in adult films will host a rally, protest and free HIV testing event outside the 9th annual XBIZ Adult Film Awards ceremony Wednesday, February 9th, starting at 7:30pm at the historic Hollywood Palladium, where the awards ceremony will take place. Three of AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s (AHF) free mobile HIV testing vans will also be strategically placed around the entrance to the awards ceremony at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Argyle Avenue to offer free testing services, free LOVE Condoms and safer sex messages to XBIZ award attendees as well as the general public. During the rally and protest, the safer sex advocates will specifically target adult film producers Larry Flynt of Hustler/LFP and Steve Hirsch of Vivid Entertainment, both longstanding and vocal critics of safer sex and condom use in their adult film productions, for pressure.

“Existing California law already requires the use of condoms by adult film actors working in the state’s multi-billion dollar adult entertainment industry; however, the industry—led by scofflaws Larry Flynt of Hustler and Steve Hirsch of Vivid—continues to defy worker safety laws, jeopardizing the health and safety of adult film performers working here,” said Michael Weinstein, President of AIDS Healthcare Foundation. “Flynt and Hirsch are both longstanding and vocal critics of safer sex measures and condom use in their adult film productions. We decided to bring this message about adult film worker safety to the XBIZ Awards to educate the stars, producers and the general public attending tonight.”
