Organisations Worldwide Are Switching from Bottled Water Coolers to Mains Tap Waterlogic Dispensers

DUBLIN--()--Waterlogic (www.waterlogic.com), the leading international supplier of mains-fed drinking water dispensers, welcomes the news of continued growth in demand for its technology at the expense of the traditional office bottled water cooler.

Many may not have noticed that the old-style office water cooler with the requisite 5 gallon (19 litre) bottle, so long a common feature of the workplace is changing in favour a machine that filters and purifies mains tap water. The sheer hassle of replacing the large bottle on top was problematic enough, but the environmental impact of bottling and delivering water caused many organisations worldwide to swap their bottled coolers for a bottle-free system such as that from Waterlogic. Furthermore, in almost all cases, this led to a cost saving for that organisation.

Plumbed-in coolers work by filtering tap water, which removes any contaminants and also removes any chlorine, whilst, importantly leaving the trace minerals which are not only important for wellness, but also improve the taste of the drinking water. Secondly the Waterlogic Firewall™ UV purification technology ensures total purification as the water is dispensed. The net result a most refreshing drink, whether hot, cold or sparkling.

Industry analysts, Zenith International report that in the US, plumbed-in mains water coolers increased their share of the overall cooler market to 14% in 2009 and this trend is set to continue. Whilst in the UK, the most developed market for plumbed in coolers, the share more than doubled from 18% five years ago to 42% in 2009.

Chris Garner, Marketing Director for Waterlogic explains this growth. “The argument for plumbed-in water coolers like Waterlogic is clear. Most organisations will save money by making the switch (if not from the direct water cost savings alone, then from the additional in-direct costs such as the administration required for ordering bottled water), all organisations can cite the change (and thus the elimination of the production, delivery and storage of bottled water) as part of their environmental commitment, to many organisations there are security benefits as the constant deliveries of bottled water pose a risk for site access control. Finally, there are some organisations that really value the Firewall™ purification, like hospitals, where it is paramount to serve refreshing and hygienic drinking water.”
