SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Public Buildings Authority (PBA) of Puerto Rico has awarded a contract to utiliVisor for energy monitoring services for the Minillas Government Center in San Juan.
The Roberto Sánchez Vilella Government Center, commonly known as Minillas Government Center, houses offices for the Department of Consumer Affairs, the Permits and Regulations Administration, the Planning Board, the Corporation for the Arts, the Family Department, the Government Development Bank, the Department of Transportation and Public Works, the Highway and Transportation Authority and the PBA. The complex encompasses over 800,000 square feet.
Working directly for the PBA, utiliVisor will provide 10 years of third party independent measurement and verification services and assist the agency in achieving its energy efficiency goals. Puerto Rico Governor Luis Fortuño has called for all public agencies to reduce energy consumption by at least 10 percent; as a result, the PBA awarded an energy performance contract to Honeywell for the Minillas complex. The entire retrofit and energy conservation project at the Minillas Government Center is being managed by Alvarez-Diaz + Group, PSC.
Under its contract, utiliVisor will review Honeywell’s energy baseline methodology for nine Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) in order to validate that a measurable method exists for the proposed energy improvements. The ECMs include lighting upgrades, chiller plant upgrades, air distribution improvements, water and sewer improvements, power factors, solar panels installation, wind turbine installation, improvements to the building envelope, and installation of a building automation system.
On an ongoing basis, utiliVisor will be responsible for reviewing data integrity for the ECMs and will validate the measure variables. The firm will review all data collection in order to validate the monthly energy savings and will provide the PBA with ongoing recommendations for improved operating performance of all building systems to ensure energy efficiencies are maximized.
