The Recording Academy® Selects AEG Digital Media to Power Online Video Viewing to Complement Events Celebrating the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards®

Leveraging the Akamai HD Network, AEG Digital Media to Provide Three Days of Live Streaming and Video on Demand

LOS ANGELES--()--The Recording Academy® has selected AEG Digital Media, the leading provider of complete webcast management, production and media services, to power extensive live and on-demand streaming programming of events in celebration of the 53rd Annual GRAMMY® Awards. Leveraging the Akamai HD Network, AEG Digital Media will stream the landmark music awards for the second straight year.

AEG Digital Media is employing a long list of products to handle the fast-expanding GRAMMY Awards, which includes a web-only pre-telecast event on Sunday, Feb. 13 in addition to the magnetic, must-see video coverage beginning on Friday, February 11. The annual awards show will be held Sunday, February 13 at STAPLES Center.

Making its debut as part of this year’s deal to live-stream the prestigious awards event is AEG Digital Media’s feature-rich Tremolo media player - which provides multiple camera-angle viewing options, which can be accessed on www.grammy.com - and greater functionality for event sponsor TurboTax-maker Intuit.

“Their arsenal of digital media products is second to none and is helping us continually provide the expanding audience a more engaging, multi-faceted web video viewing experience,” said Peter Anton, VP of Digital Media, The Recording Academy. “Working with AEG Digital Media last year familiarized us with their vast repertoire of technology and business capabilities, which we are using more of for this year’s event.”

The GRAMMY Awards coverage will use the Tremolo player and employ the following AEG Digital Media offerings: content delivery network (CDN) management, video-on-demand (VOD) encoding, production services, and coordination of video from events at multiple locations. AEG Digital Media will also provide technical staff, facilities and camera equipment.

In addition, The GRAMMY Awards will also deploy AEG Digital Media’s social media aggregation toolThe Hawk”, which will allow complete and unified messaging from the official GRAMMY blog team, celebrity and artist tweeters and fans all over the world. The Hawk will aggregate and present all messaging around the streaming experience providing the ultimate digital engagement for Music’s Biggest Night®.

“We are proud to be working with The Recording Academy to help power the expansion of the GRAMMY Awards online and provide viewers the optimal web video experience, which we are enhancing this year with the advanced Tremolo player and The Hawk, and expanded options for sponsors,” explained John Petrocelli, VP, Sales and Business Development for AEG Digital Media.
