IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DRI Energy, the solar industry’s preferred EPC contractor, and Kinsbursky Brothers, Inc., an environmental management company that specializes in the management and recycling of end of life large format batteries used in motive power, standby power and automotive hybrid applications, announced today the commissioning of a 306 kW-DC system at Kinsbursky Brothers’ facility in Anaheim, CA.
The solar array is expected to produce more than 440,000 kWh annually, reducing CO2 emissions by nearly 700,000 lbs a year. The greenhouse gas emissions avoided is similar to recycling over 200,000 lbs of waste instead of sending it to a landfill.
As one of the original ‘green’ companies, Kinsbursky Brothers have been helping to save energy since the industry was started. With over 3 generations and 88 years of experience in the recycling industry, Kinsbursky Brothers’ approach to business has placed the Company at the forefront of recycling and protecting the environment. Solar PV is a natural fit with Kinsbursky Brothers’ stance on the environment. The company’s mission is to recover non renewable resources and convert them back into materials for beneficial reuse. Installing a 306 kW canopy mounted solar PV system is a part of fulfilling that mission.
“Kinsbursky Brothers remains committed to conservation and the environment. We strive in all areas of our business to have the lowest impact on our surroundings,” says Steven Kinsbursky, President of Kinsbursky Brothers, Inc. “Whether it is recycling batteries used in hybrid vehicles to provide strategic metals for the manufacturing of new batteries, or investing in solar technology, we are dedicated to sustaining our natural resources.”
“Kinsbursky Brothers’ commitment to fundamental issues, including safety, quality and the environment, make them a perfect client for us,” said Steve Kelley, Executive Vice President of DRI Energy. “We are proud to work with a company with a long history of environmental stewardship.” Building a solar photovoltaic system on a 38-foot high open structure in a sensitive operation zone required expert project safety and planning to eliminate operational disruption to the client.
