TUV Rheinland Group Appointed as a Global Audit Body for TAPA

COLOGNE, Germany--()--The TUV Rheinland Group is proud to announce that it has been appointed as a global audit provider by the Worldwide Council of TAPA, the Transported Asset Protection Association. The appointment enables TUV Rheinland to conduct assessments against the Freight Security Requirement (FSR) standard worldwide.

TAPA is a unique forum that unites global manufacturers, logistics providers, freight carriers, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders with the common aim of reducing losses from international supply chains. TAPA's FSR standard is the first certifiable standard developed to ensure improved security of goods while in storage at warehouses and other facilities.

The FSR contains elements for access control, employee checks, intruder security devices, monitoring systems and perimeter security, amongst others. The standard is appropriate for any organization with high value goods stored in warehouses and distribution centers. In addition to the high tech industry, pharmaceuticals, garments, and tobacco companies, along with large retailers, use the standard to create benchmark security requirements for the storage and transportation of goods. A number of other standards are also being developed, including the Trucking Security Requirement (TSR), which looks to provide a baseline level of security for goods in transit.

"TUV Rheinland is pleased to become a key part of this growing organization and looks forward to supporting TAPA with its continued development," said Mr. Ralf Wilde, Executive Vice President of Products and Systems. "With the addition of TAPA to our growing portfolio of security related services, we are looking to further enhance security throughout the industry."

With the addition of TAPA, TUV Rheinland now has a full portfolio of security services. With its global presence, TUV Rheinland works according to international security standards such as ISO 28000, C-TPAT compliance, IT Security and NASPO security assessments, in addition to providing a range of brand protection, anti-counterfeiting and risk management services.
