CenterWatch expands its www.centerwatch.com service to assist patients and health care professionals in finding clinical trials

BOSTON--()--CenterWatch—a leading publisher of clinical trials information—announced that it has more than quadrupled the size of its Clinical Trials Listing Service™ (CTLS). The service now lists more than 80,000 active clinical trials across a wide range of disease conditions, making it the largest online and dynamic database of global clinical trials involving new drugs and devices regulated by the Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Health and Human Services. The listings are accessible free-of-charge for patients, the public and health care professionals.

CenterWatch receives over a million unique visitors to its online listings annually and notifies nearly 500,000 patients each year of new trial listings, many of whom subscribe to CenterWatch's Patient Notification Service, a free automated e-mail service that alerts registrants to new clinical trials posted in areas in which they have specified an interest in participation. Listings on the CTLS receive ethical review and approval prior to their being published online. The service is updated daily to provide accurate and up-to-date information for patients and health care professionals.

“We’re thrilled to expand the Clinical Trials Listing Service™ to make it more valuable not only for patients and professionals in North America but also for those around the world,” said Joan Chambers, CenterWatch COO. “A growing number of patients and their support network are looking for online information. Our expanded service greatly increases access to information on clinical trials that are actively enrolling volunteers in local geographic areas.”

The CTLS features summary descriptions of thousands of research studies, eligibility criteria, locations where trials are being conducted and information to contact principal investigators and study staff. The listings come from a variety of sources including drug and device sponsors, contract research organizations, research centers and government research sponsors. CenterWatch also draws listings of industry-funded research studies from the Clinicaltrials.gov website.

CenterWatch launched the CTLS service in 1994. Since then, the service has received numerous awards for its editorial content and for the valuable role it plays in helping patients to identify relevant clinical trials and to contact research professionals for more information. Over the years, the CTLS has been featured in a wide variety of newspapers and magazines including The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Parade Magazine, Readers Digest and Prevention. The service has also been shown on television including The Oprah Winfrey Show.
