ALISO VIEJO, Calif. & CORK, Ireland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Quest Software and the Irish Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation today announced that the company plans to expand its Irish presence by establishing a shared services center in Cork, Ireland, scheduled to open this month. The company expects to grow the Cork operations to 150 employees by 2013. Quest conducted a global evaluation of sites before selecting Cork with IDA Ireland working closely with the company.
Quest Software Inc. was established in 1987 and is headquartered in California, USA. The company designs, develops, markets and supports enterprise systems and network management software products. The planned activities within the Cork operation are expected to include functions such as finance, software renewals, inside sales and software development.
Announcing the investment, Minister O'Keeffe described the new jobs as “strategically important for Ireland's information communications technology (ICT) sector. Eight of the world's top 10 technology firms are based in Ireland and Quest Software's move to choose Cork for the international shared services center following a global evaluation of sites shows that we have the local talent pool, infrastructure and business environment to draw high-tech investments. Already, Cork has a vibrant ICT sector, with about 8,000 high-tech workers employed by IDA Ireland client firms in the county so the announcement strengthens our value proposition to the global investor community.”
“About three-quarters of our exports are now from the multinational sector, signaling that recovery in the domestic economy is under way and our foreign direct investment sector is outperforming many other countries in the eurozone area. The Government has prioritized investment in the enterprise sector so that we can continue to attract top-level investors to Ireland and create high-quality jobs for our people,” said Minister O'Keeffe.
“Quest has an ever increasing global presence which is helping to drive the success of our business,” said Doug Garn, president and CEO of Quest Software. “After a strategic review of our international operations, it was clear we could best position ourselves for future growth by centralising key aspects of our international business activities to better serve our customers and increase operational efficiency. Ireland was chosen due to the significant presence of other software technology companies; the high quality infrastructure; the availability of experienced and highly qualified professionals, multilingual talent and a pro-business environment. IDA Ireland has been a key partner in making the decision to locate in Ireland the right one for Quest.”
IDA Ireland CEO, Barry O’Leary welcoming the announcement said, “Quest’s decision to locate this important part of its international business in Cork is a significant win for IDA Ireland and is the result of many years of discussion with the company. In today’s highly competitive environment IDA Ireland has to vigorously compete for the most sought-after investment such as Quest’s. Ireland’s track records with global technology leaders and our improving competitiveness positions Ireland favourably to compete for new investment.”
