Ben & Jerry’s® Swings out of Summer Unveiling its third Saturday Night Live Flavor
Ice Cream Maker Continues its Year Long Celebration of SNL’s 40th Season, One Wild and Crazy Scoop at a Time
BURLINGTON, Vt.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Have your taste buds been craving something a little wild and crazy lately? Ben & Jerry’s fans are in for a “swinging” adventure with the newest Saturday Night Live-inspired flavor, Two Wild & Crazy Pies. With inspiration from the classic SNL sketch starring Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd, which first aired in 1977, Two Wild & Crazy Pies combines coconut cream pie ice cream, chocolate cream pie ice cream, and adds in a scrumptious chocolate cookie swirl. This is the third of four unique SNL-themed Ben & Jerry’s flavors to appear at the company’s Scoop Shops nationwide. The sketch features Yortuk and Georg Festrunk dressed in plaid slacks and polyester shirts as the two Czechoslovakian brothers who “cruise and swing so successfully” as they try their best to fit in with their new surroundings.
“While our first two SNL flavors were inspired by more recent characters and sketches, we didn’t forget the classics from the earlier decades”
“While our first two SNL flavors were inspired by more recent characters and sketches, we didn’t forget the classics from the earlier decades,” said Scoop Shop Brand Manager Alison Gilbert. “We were torn between this and the Bass-o-Matic, so it was obvious which lent itself to a better flavor,” added Gilbert.
This flavor will be available exclusively at Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops across the U.S. Following the kooky antics of the Festrunk brothers-based ice cream, the company plans to release its fourth and final flavor of the sketch-inspired line in early 2015 to wrap up the celebration of SNL’s 40th Anniversary.
