MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Digital River, Inc. (NASDAQ: DRIV), a leading global provider of Commerce-as-a-Service solutions, today announced that Humphrey Chan has joined the company as its new general manager and vice president of Asia Pacific and Japan. Chan, a 20-year information industry veteran and specialist in Asian trade, will direct and expand the company’s business in the Asia Pacific region, managing sales, marketing and day-to-day operations. Based in Digital River’s Hong Kong office, Chan will manage the company’s operations in Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei, and Tokyo.
“One of the key growth strategies of our transformation is to continue to aggressively expand our business on a worldwide basis,” said David Dobson, Digital River’s chief executive officer. “Humphrey Chan joins Digital River with an exceptional track record of leading sales, marketing, channel development, mergers and acquisitions, and operations. Drawing on the combination of his international leadership along with Digital River’s global expertise and infrastructure, we intend to create added value for our customers and further capitalize on the growing commerce opportunity in Asia Pacific.”
International revenue accounted for approximately 52 percent of Digital River’s total revenue in 2013. Digital River’s Asia Pacific-based customers include leading brands such as Lenovo, Panasonic and Trend Micro.
Born in Shanghai and educated in Hong Kong and the U.S., Chan has spent his career bridging the gap between the East and the West. He comes to Digital River from SafeNet, Inc., a Maryland-based data protection company, where he was vice president of Asia Pacific and Japan. At SafeNet, Chan was responsible for revenue growth and regional operations, building a multi-million-dollar business for the company by establishing a strong local presence, support infrastructure and comprehensive partner ecosystem. Prior to SafeNet, Chan worked for 10 years at Rainbow Technologies where he held various senior positions in channel development, marketing and sales management.
“I am excited to be part of a company recognized as a leading industry influencer – and a provider of commerce, payments and marketing solutions for one of the most strategic revenue channels for nearly all companies,” said Chan. “I am looking forward to contributing to Digital River’s plan to scale its operation, and drive global awareness and growth across this important and emerging region for commerce.”
